Subtle Activism w/Maureen McSweeney
May 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until June 6, 2019
Thursday – Feb. 7 (and every Thurs after), 7-8 pm with Maureen McSweeney of the Findhorn Community. Subtle activism is the intentional use of a spiritual practice (such as meditation, prayer, ritual) for the purpose of transforming a social, political and/or ecological issue. It’s based on the work of David Spangler of Findhorn and the Lorian Association. Subtle activism does not replace public activism, but works with social issues from a different perspective.
This workshop intends to create a subtle activism group that is committed to meditating together on a weekly basis to bring about the transformation of some social, political or ecological issue pertaining to the local Sarasota area. The workshop includes guided meditation, silent meditation on the shared group intention, and group sharing. Examples of intentions: Improving the water quality of the Sarasota area beaches; Reducing car accidents and road rage; Increasing affordable housing in the community. Some basic meditation experience is required for this workshop.
Maureen McSweeney is a member of the Findhorn Community in Scotland and has experience in meditation and group workshops. These group sessions are offered by love offering to Unity of Sarasota.
