Did you know 80% of adults say they want to write a book\, but only 1% do? As a writer\, editor and publisher for 30 years\, I can help you create a series of memoirs to assemble your own autobiography.\nWhy? Two reasons: 1) because writing the story of your life will be transformational for you —\nand 2) you are creating a cherished keepsake for your loved ones and posterity.\nIn class you’ll be prompted to write about one aspect of your life at a time\, for at least two hours a\nweek. The goal is to compile a series of memoirs covering your lifetime into your autobiography.\nDon’t wait! Now is a great opportunity to start writing your life review. SUMMARY:Sangha SRQ - Buddhist Oriented Recovery Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Refuge Recovery is a practice\, a process\, a set of tools\, a treatment\, and a path to healing addiction and the suffering caused by addiction. The main inspiration and guiding philosophy for the Refuge Recovery program are the teachings of Siddhartha (Sid) Gautama\, a man who lived in India twenty-five hundred years ago. Sid was a radical psychologist and a spiritual revolutionary. Through his own efforts and practices he came to understand why human beings experience and cause so much suffering. He referred to the root cause of suffering as “uncontrollable thirst or repetitive craving.” This “thirst” tends to arise in relation to pleasure\, but it may also arise as a craving for unpleasant experiences to go away\, or as an addiction to people\, places\, things\, or experiences. This is the same thirst of the alcoholic\, the same craving as the addict\, and the same attachment as the codependent. \nEventually\, Sid came to understand and experience a way of living that ended all forms of suffering. He did this through a practice and process that includes meditation\, wise actions\, and compassion. After freeing himself from the suffering caused by craving\, he spent the rest of his life teaching others how to live a life of well-being and freedom\, a life free from suffering. \nSid became known as the Buddha\, and his teachings became known as Buddhism. DESCRIPTION:Kirtan with Cheryl Chaffee will be held once a month at Unity of Sarasota in Fellowship Hall.  By donation to benefit Unity of Sarasota – Love Offering \n \n  \n  \nKirtan is a very different kind of music. Based on ancient chants\, it has the ability to quiet the mind if listened to with intention. Everyone experiences kirtan differently\, and it doesn’t have to be a religious experience. You can think of it as a sing-along. A kirtan concert is not your typical concert either. \nThe wallah (leader) sings the mantra\, and the audience sings it back. As you sing with each other you experience a deep connection with the musicians\, the other audience members and yourself. And when the music stops\, your mind is quiet. \nBecause kirtan has roots in India\, many of the songs are sung in Sanskrit. If you’ve ever chanted responses in Latin or Hebrew in your religious tradition\, then you know how powerful singing in an ancient\, holy language can be. You can be completely immersed in the sound\, with no words to distract the mind. The magic of the chants can then carry you within.\nKirtan is non-denominational\, the Universal language of Spirit\, the song of the Soul.

SUMMARY:Sangha SRQ - Buddhist Oriented Recovery Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Refuge Recovery is a practice\, a process\, a set of tools\, a treatment\, and a path to healing addiction and the suffering caused by addiction. The main inspiration and guiding philosophy for the Refuge Recovery program are the teachings of Siddhartha (Sid) Gautama\, a man who lived in India twenty-five hundred years ago. Sid was a radical psychologist and a spiritual revolutionary. Through his own efforts and practices he came to understand why human beings experience and cause so much suffering. He referred to the root cause of suffering as “uncontrollable thirst or repetitive craving.” This “thirst” tends to arise in relation to pleasure\, but it may also arise as a craving for unpleasant experiences to go away\, or as an addiction to people\, places\, things\, or experiences. This is the same thirst of the alcoholic\, the same craving as the addict\, and the same attachment as the codependent. \nEventually\, Sid came to understand and experience a way of living that ended all forms of suffering. He did this through a practice and process that includes meditation\, wise actions\, and compassion. After freeing himself from the suffering caused by craving\, he spent the rest of his life teaching others how to live a life of well-being and freedom\, a life free from suffering. \nSid became known as the Buddha\, and his teachings became known as Buddhism. The Refuge Recovery program has adapted the core teachings of the Buddha as a treatment of addiction. \nFor more information on this meeting\, email: rr-srq@mail.com

As a writer\, editor and publisher for 30 years\, I can help you create a series of memoirs to assemble your own autobiography.\nWhy? Two reasons: 1) because writing the story of your life will be transformational for you —\nand 2) you are creating a cherished keepsake for your loved ones and posterity.\nIn class you’ll be prompted to write about one aspect of your life at a time\, for at least two hours a\nweek. The goal is to compile a series of memoirs covering your lifetime into your autobiography.\nDon’t wait! Now is a great opportunity to start writing your life review.
