THE EMERGENCY: An emergency situation needs to be addressed immediately. Specifically, there are unacceptable levels of hazardous and dangerous bacteria and possibly mold in the 35-year-old sanctuary carpet. After tests by experts, we have been advised that the age and condition of the carpet make it impossible to eradicate the hazard by cleaning.  Your safety and the safety of others is our paramount concern. As the business and spiritual leaders of the church, we would be delinquent in our duties if we did not take immediate action to address this health hazard before reopening our doors to you, our valued members, and to all other guests.

THE PANDEMIC: If the hazardous and dangerous health problem from bacteria alone wasn’t enough, the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to operate differently in the future. From physical distancing to ongoing protective measures to avoid contact with the virus and/or spreading it; we will need to think, act, and operate differently. This period while our doors are closed to the public has provided us the unique opportunity to once and for all undertake and finish the renovation of the sanctuary that is so long overdue. It only makes sense that we act now for our future.

OUR FUTURE: We look forward to welcoming you to a new and clean sanctuary, with a new look and feel, still situated in our uniquely beautiful surroundings. Reverend Suzi has put together plans that will allow us to address these issues in a timely and cost-effective manner and she will present the details at the upcoming meeting. The trustees have unanimously endorsed this plan and we are looking forward to support from all of you. Finally, it is our sincere hope that the presence of Spirit in and all around finds you safe and in good health at this time. And, dear friends, that is our commitment to you for our future together as well.

Sincerely,

Bill Takacs, Board of Trustees President
